Stock ledger, and fast and slow items
The stock ledger shows every movement of an item with a running balance. Fast and slow items show what sells and what just sits.
Step by step
- Open Stock ledger. Choose one item, a group, all items, godown-wise (also all godowns side by side) or batch-wise with expiry.
- Pick the dates and voucher types. The running balance stays true when you filter.
- Read it. Date, voucher type, number, party, in, out, balance and value; rows below zero are marked.
- Fast and slow items. Fast = top third by value sold; slow = no movement for 90 days (you can change the days), with last sale and days of stock.
- Excel or print.
Worked example
Slow items for 90 days: "Paint brush 4 inch", 60 in hand, last sold 21 June, ₹3,000 tied up. Put it on offer.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Group totals look wrong. Items without a group are listed separately; give them groups in My data.
